Processed food manufacturers can be a little sensitive about the listing of ingredients that they are obliged to put on their packaging. Creative circumlocutions for ‘sugar’, for instance, can include the following: corn sugar, dextrose, fructose, glucose, high-fructose glucose, syrup, honey, maple syrup, agave syrup, invert syrup, levulose, maltose and sucrose.
My favourite? Evaporated cane juice.
